
Barn Fire
Tuesday, Sept 29, 2009: At 15:36 Weyers Cave Fire, Grottoes Fire, New Hope Fire, Shenandoah Valley Airport, and Grottoes Rescue were dispatched to 209
Tanner Ln. for a reported barn fire. Engine 54 arrived with heavy fire showing and Chief 5 assumed command. Assistance was requested from Bridgewater Fire
for a tanker. Fire crews spent most of the afternoon fighting this fire, with Engine 54 marking in service at 20:15. Thanks to Lisa Campbell for the pictures.
Remembering our fallen brother Dennis "Chip" Taylor

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chip, his family, and our brothers of Rockingham County Fire and Rescue.
Company 5 ALS!
Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009: Last week the Weyers Cave Volunteer Fire Company received a license from the Virginia Office of EMS to practice Advanced Life
Support. Company 5 can now provide a higher level of care to patients prior to the arrival of an ambulance. This is exciting for the company and the community
of Weyers Cave. This new addition to the fire company helps us provide the best service possible to our residents. Thanks to FF/NREMT-I Jeremy Wampler for
working hard to get this license approved for the company!

2009 WCFC Christmas Dinner
Saturday, Dec 12, 2009: Tonight the Weyers Cave Fire company opened up our station to the community for our annual Christmas Dinner. This year we had
several activities for the children and one-stop shopping for the adults. The ladies of the Weyers Cave Fire company cooked a large spaghetti dinner. We were
happy to have a successful year with 10 vendors and over 150 visitors! Check back on our website next December if you missed us this year.
Snowstorm keeps the 5 house busy
Sunday, Dec 20, 2009: At 18:00 hrs on Friday, the Shenandoah Valley was placed under a winter storm warning. By Sunday morning Weyers Cave had
received over 15 inches of snow. During the storm the volunteers of the Weyers Cave Fire Company responded to 23 emergency calls. These included 16
traffic crashes, 4 medical calls, 1 public service, 1 automatic fire alarm, and 1 welfare check. The fire company completed their weekend shortly after midnight
on Sunday running mutual aid to Penn Laird for their 700th call of the year!
